An avant-garde actress leaves her unfaithful actor husband for a rich horse breeder.

Michel and Josépha play supporting parts in third-rate movie, but they find it hard to fill the halls. Their relationship suffers accordingly. While making a film in Vichy, Josépha meets Régis, a wealthy horse breeder with whom she has a love affair to take revenge on Michel, who used to cheat on her with a press attache. The former lovers are still in touch, but Josépha decides to live with Regis and his daughter Babette. Meanwhile, Michel at last finds his lifetime part: Macbeth.—dbdumonteil
