Host and panelists humorously debate and whittle down contenders for history's worst/best example of a topic, leaving the audience to pick a "winner" from the finalists.

Join or Die with Craig Ferguson features the comedian debating provocative and timely topics in his unorthodox and iconoclastic manner. Each episode features a panel of guests which will include celebrities, comedians and experts, as well as the American public through social media. Topics will include: biggest presidential campaign flop, greatest founding father and which invention was history's greatest game-changer.

After an opening monologue on the topic in question, host Craig Ferguson and his guest panelists embark on a discussion to find the superlative in history on that topic. The superlative generally leans more on the side of "worst" as opposed to "best". They are provided a short list of contenders for the title, that list which they slowly whittle down to a final two based on the unscientific criteria of their choice.
