Synopsis

On a rainy night a conversation is happening between four cops in a police van, patrolling the streets of Mumbai. A car narrowly misses, colliding into them on the road, brakes, and then continues on towards a house with iron gates. A man in a jacket gets out of the car, heads towards the garage, and opens the roller shutter door when he is shot from behind multiple times. At the same time, the cops in the van receive an alert on the radio that gunshots have been heard somewhere in the vicinity, and they ask the driver to head towards the location of the gunshots.

The entire story is then in flashback.

Vikram (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is a gangster, and his girlfriend Mini (Rimi Sen) wants him to give up illegal activities. Vikram says that life itself is a gamble and is not worried about the Rs 4 Lakhs per month he pays to the police as bribe.Kalyan (Govind Namdeo) is a corrupt policeman in Bangalore who sells contraband at below market rates to gangs. Sheshadri (Dharmendra) is Kalyan's contact & Kalyan wants to sell drugs (code word "French Furniture") worth 5 Crores in 2.5 Crores to Sheshadri. The only condition is that the deal needs to be completed withing the next week.

Sheshadri puts together his partners Shardul (Zakir Hussain) (who doesn't want to include others), Prakash (Vinay Pathak) (who hates Shardul as he wants to a build a hotel by demolishing his gambling den), Shiva (Dayanand Shetty) & Vikram. Sheshadri warns Shardul that he could have done the deal alone as well but wanted to honor the partnership.

Sheshadri instructs that each partner will put 50 Lakhs to buy the stuff, but Prakash has a liquidity issue. Based on Shardul's promise of being able to sell the furniture for more than Rs. 5 Crore, each member anticipates a profit of a further Rs. 50 Lakhs each, at least.Shardul tries to buy Prakash's gambling den, but Prakash shuts him up.

Mini is Shardul's wife. She wants to run away with Vikram, but he convinces her to wait for this deal to be completed. Vikram and Mini plan escape to Canada after the caper. After meeting Mini, Vikram gets the idea to steal the entire Rs 2.5 Crores, while watching an Amitabh Bachchan movie where he boards a train, then exits the train at a different station, commits a crime, takes a flight to a town further ahead on the train route, and then re-boards the train there.

Prakash's wife Varsha runs a beauty parlor. Prakash comes up with the cash by mortgaging his wife's beauty parlor.

Sheshadri appoints Shiva to go to Bangalore on 23rd, by train to pick up the goods. Vikram leaves his share of 50 Lakh with Sheshadri before 23rd & says he has to go to Goa on 23rd. Shesh knows of Vikram & Mini.Vikram takes the car to Pune but has to stay in a hotel & get car fixed when it is damaged. He checks in with name Jhonny G. He flies to Goa and meets advocate Gomes, who is Seshadri's friend, to get his work done and to serve as an alibi later, if required. Vikram flies back to Mumbai on 23rd, the day Shiva is going to leave. Last minute Prakash backs out of escorting Shiva to the station, so Shesh goes with Shiva.

Vikram boards the train & at night puts chloroform on Shiva, but before falling unconscious Shiva sees Vikram's face so he throws Shiva off the train. Vikram takes the money bag, gets off at Pune, takes a flight & gets to Goa. Vikram establishes his presence via Shesh's friend Gomes on the 24th.

Shesh calls Vikram back to Mumbai & tells him that Shiva was found dead on tracks with his face completely smashed. Shesh suspects Shiva of killing someone else & putting his stuff on that person & putting him on tracks. Vikram defends Shiva & even says that Shesh himself went to leave Shiva at station. Shesh says he never told Vikram that. Sesh now knows that Vikram was involved in Shiva's death. Vikram shoots Shesh & escapes.

Vikram comes back when Prakash & Shardul arrive at Shesh's place & pretends he is coming straight from Goa. Together they bury Shesh without involving the police.Now Kalyan comes to Mumbai & claims that Shesh was his friend. He begins investigating & finds Mini & Vikram's apartment. Mini pretends to be the landlord. Then at Prakash's anniversary dinner Kalyan finds out that Mini is Shardul's wife.

That day Kalyan also kidnaps Shiva's girlfriend & takes her to his apartment to get info. After dinner Kalyan confronts Vikram & says he was recognized at airport & he is the culprit. He comes home to release Shiva's girl, but she kills Kalyan & escapes in his car that has Vikram in the back seat, unconscious. She finds Vikram & lets him out.

Vikram heads to Prakash & Shardul. Prakash is desperate & looses 10 Lakhs in gambling to a customer in his own den. He calls Shardul for money, but he refuses to help. They decide to share the loss. Vikram dips into his loot to stump up 3.33 Lakhs, but Shardul finds that half those notes are fake. Prakash finds out that Shardul had fake notes in his custody. Prakash meets Vikram & tells him that on 23rd he mixed 8 Lakhs of fake notes in the deposit to Shesh as he was short & now that same fake note had traveled back to him via Shardul. Hence Shardul stole the money.

Prakash asks Vikram to lure Shardul out to an isolated location to shoot him. Vikram confesses his crimes & shoots Prakash instead. Shardul then accidentally discovers that Vikram was in Pune for car repair. He figures out that Vikram is the culprit. He keeps Vikram busy in a bar & searches his house to find the money.

He goes home to pick a revolver & tells Mini; Vikram is the traitor. He heads back to the bar to shoot Vikram. Mini follows Shardul & as Shardul is about to shoot, she distracts him & Vikram shoots Shardul. Now Vikram & Mini decide to get rid of Shardul's body & leave the country forever. Shardul had told Vikram that the money was in his garage.Vikram puts on Shardul's jacket & heads for his home to pick up the cash. Prakash's wife Varsha (Ashwini Kalsekar) is waiting for Shardul & shoots Vikram (thinking he is Shardul), because she suspected Shardul of killing Prakash.
