Johansen leads a quiet bachelor life in a small Danish provincial town. He takes care of his work in the builder's merchant and as a volunteer in the local fire brigade. In the middle of a hot summer, however, a young woman shows up and asks for eight rolls of wallpaper. Suddenly, Johansen's life is not quite the same as before.
