Kabir Lal is an alcoholic lawyer whose life is looking as if going down the drain. One morning he sees a stunningly attractive woman on a beach and is instantly enamored by her. Kabir Lal (John Abrahim) is an alcoholic lawyer whose life is looking as if going down the drain. Kabir lives a playboy lifestyle in Pondicherry. He spends all night on the streets of the city and only goes home after sunrise.He sees attractive woman on a beach at sunrise and is instantly enamored by her. He sees her again in a restaurant and offers to buy her a drink. He learns that her name is Sonia (Bipasha Basu) and she is married. Sonia is lured by Kabir's charm and agrees to have a soft drink with him. Sonia disappears that night, but Kabir cannot stop thinking about her. Kabir can only see Sonia everywhere.
Kabir runs into Sonia a few days later at a different restaurant. Kabir is clear that he is attracted to Sonia's smoking hot body. Sonia says that she is interested in wind chimes and has a collection at home. Unable to resist, he asks her whether she would show him her home. Sonia's husband has a travelling job and is often out of home.
It marks the beginning of a passionate affair, during which Kabir has sex with Sonia. Sonia ensures that she is never seen in public with Kabir. Whenever Kabir is at her home, Sonia makes sure that the servants are gone home or are off duty.
Kabir and Sonia start having regular sex and Kabir is now addicted to Sonia. Sonia says that she is very afraid of her husband and to stay alive they would have to hide this relationship from everyone. Sonia asks Kabir not to tell anyone about their relationship. Sonia says that her husband neglects her.
Kabir's police inspector friend Siddharth (Vinay Pathak) warns Kabir about getting tangled in someone else's life, but he ignores his advice. Vishal (Ranvir Shorey) is Kabir's friend.Kabir's ex-flame Sheeba (Sheeba Chaddha) confronts him in front of Siddharth and Vishal and says that Kabir should be honest with her if he is bored and has moved on. Shiddharth warns Kabir not to lie to his friends.
Siddharth has arrested Kabir's client Frankie (Harsh Vashisht) with 15 Kgs of explosives. Frankie claims that the explosives were for a Bollywood film shooting. In private, Frankie admits to Kabir that he was lured by the attraction of money and was delivering explosives to some criminals.
Kabir is possessive about Sonia and wants her to leave her husband. Sonia cannot leave her husband Rohit (Gulshan Grover) because she cannot support herself without his money. He suggests that she get a divorce, but she says that her husband is capable of killing them both.Sonia suggests murdering her husband and making it look like an accident. Kabir, blind with lust & rage from seeing Sonia in someone else's hands, agrees.
Siddharth warns Kabir about Sonia, but he ignores him again. Sonia tries to entice Kabir to change Rohit's will, but he refuses. Sonia says that the current will splits the wealth between her and Rohit's sister Priyanka (Anahita Uberoi) who is a compulsive alcoholic and gambler. Sonia says that Priyanka will spend the wealth carelessly and hence should not be made custodian for even a part of it. Kabir says that changing a legal document will bring the spotlight on them.
Kabir procures dynamite from his criminal client Franki, who does odd jobs. Kabir enters Sonia's home at night & kills Rohit by clobbering him in the head with a metal rod. He takes his body to an abandoned industrial compound & sets dynamite over it.
Kabir gets to see Sonia's other side: she no longer is the passionate lover as before but is a cool-headed mean woman now who won't let go of her wealth at any cost.Kabir finds that Sonia did make another will that gave her control of all of Rohit's wealth, cutting off Rohit's sister Priyanka. Furthermore, Kabir is the executioner of the new will.
Rohit's lawyer calls Kabir & explains that he is not convinced of the new will & that the old will that split the wealth between Sonia & Priyanka should be honored. Sonia refuses to honor the old will.Priyanka tells Kabir that Sonia was nurse to Rohit's ailing first wife & she still suspects that Sonia killed Rohit's first wife by exposing her to cold in her condition of pneumonia.
Siddharth meets Kabir & tells him that he is sure that Rohit was murdered (bomb particles were found on his body & the explosion was not chemical in nature). He also says that as executioner of will Kabir, & beneficiary Sonia are suspects in Rohit's murder. Kabir says that he has an alibi; he had checked into a Chennai hotel on the night of the murder.Kabir wants Sonia to bury the case by splitting the wealth with Priyanka and making her go away. But Sonia flatly refuses.
Siddharth finds that Kabir was not in the hotel the whole night. He also takes an arrest warrant for Frankie & receives a call from an anonymous person who offers information on Rohit's murder.On finding out, Kabir feels the noose tighten & calls Sonia to run away, & she agrees but sends an assassin to kill Kabir, but he manages to escape.
Kabir confronts Sonia, and she denies that she ever loved him. When he threatens to turn himself in and confess his crime to the police, she shoots him. He's wounded in the abdomen but manages to stand up. Sonia rushes to him as he stands and tells him that she has always loved him. They share a passionate kiss, and then the gun goes off in Sonia's hands. It is revealed that Kabir had shot Sonia in the stomach as he lay her down on the sofa.
He then flees and calls Siddharth and tells him and Vishal to meet him at the beach. They meet Kabir, who apologizes to them and says that he just wants to see the sunrise one last time. As they watch the sunrise, Kabir has a vision of Sonia walking towards him. Kabir smiles to himself and then dies of his injury.
