Two opposites team up for an amazing Christmas race and find love along the way.

Avery is an unadventurous schoolteacher whose sister secretly signs her up for The Great Holiday Dash, a Christmas-themed reality competition show where she's paired with former hockey player Wes. Despite clashing at first, Avery's puzzle-solving skills and Wes' physical prowess help them excel as they travel from city to city and compete in festive feats that have a local flavor. It's not long before a real connection between these opposites begins to blossom. But when Avery overhears a conversation between Wes and a show producer it threatens to derail their budding romance. Keeping their eyes on the prize, the duo continues to dash to the finish line but there may be a more personal adventure for them still in store.

The Great Holiday Dash is an annual television show where contestants compete in Christmas seasonal puzzles and activities traveling across the country in what is ultimately a scavenger hunt, the last person standing winning the grand prize of $1 million. What the twenty contestants this season don't know until the start of the dash is that they have been paired as ten teams, each in the winning pair to get that $1 million. One of those pairs is Wes Cosgrove and Avery Miller, who would have preferred any other teammate in they being polar opposites and having had a previous run-in before each knew the other was going to be on the show. Wes is an ultra competitive recently retired NHL player who is trying, so far unsuccessfully, to find out what his next phase of life will be that will still keep him active and in the public consciousness as a celebrity, his fame which has quickly faded in his retirement. Avery is an elementary school teacher who is a hermit in her private life in she not enjoying the spotlight, she only being on the show in her sister Ruby having entered her without her knowledge, and the off chance of winning giving her the opportunity to start a non-profit in childhood literacy. For Wes, the only other person he would have least preferred as a teammate is Nash Reynolds, who seems to beat him out on any opportunity he's attempted in this post-hockey life. Wes and Avery quickly come to the realization that they have to work together as a team to succeed, they each needing to work to their individual strengths, him as the brawn and her as the brains, and support the other in their weaknesses in he being the dumb jock and she being the uncoordinated, nonathletic bookworm. As they experience some success in the challenges and get to know the other contestants, they each get a different view of the competition and of the other as they start to fall for each other. Regardless of if they win or lose, what may affect their partnership in the short and long term is determining what is real between them versus what they do to make for good television.—Huggo
