The season's hottest toy, Harrison the Talking Bear, is all sold out, and Noel's new stepfather Victor wants to keep it that way so he can be the one to make her holiday wish come true. When Larry learns that all that she wants for Christmas is Harrison, he'll stop at nothing to get her the toy of her dreams and make her happy.—Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
Larry, a divorced part-time truck driver, finds himself neck-deep in trouble when he discovers that his 8-year-old daughter Noel wants the hard-to-get Harrison the Talking Bear toy for Christmas. Before long, he and Victor, his ex-wife Trish's incredibly rich new husband, lock horns, vying for Noel's attention and affection in a frenzied quest to find Harrison during the season's few remaining days left. There can be only one winner. Will Noel get this year's hottest new toy?—Nick Riganas
Truck driver Larry Phillips vies for daughter Noel's affection with his ex-wife's current husband, affluent businessman Victor. When Larry offers to mail Noel's letter to Santa Claus, he surreptitiously opens it in an attempt to learn what she wants most.
He then makes an attempt to purchase what he thinks is her ultimate wish-a Harrison the Talking Bear toy, which also happens to be the season's top toy. Victor, Noel's new stepfather, sends Welling, his hired spy, to follow Larry and discover what Noel desires so that he can be the one to grant her wishes. Victor has Welling buy every Harrison bear he can find and stops Larry every time he tries to obtain one because he is determined to prevent Larry from ever obtaining one.
In his box business, Victor keeps all of the bears he buys in a room. After deceiving Victor into disclosing the bears' location, Larry follows him into the room where they are kept but unintentionally locks them both inside.
A perceptive female reporter at the town's tree lighting ceremony has figured out who purchased all of the bears (Welling) and has revealed his identity to all of the parents who attempted to purchase one for their child. When she accuses Victor of being the real villain, the audience turns their ire not at Victor but at his boxing company.
Larry and Victor, meanwhile, have learned what is happening inside the box company and have finally joined forces to save the day. After deciding to spend Christmas together, they give Noel the toy they both treasure, only to discover that he never wanted it. They inquire as to why she did not want the toy, pointing out that she mentioned it in her letter to Santa Claus. Noel claims that Larry betrayed her trust by finding and reading the letter, which he then produces. To his and Victor's surprise, the letter, when properly interpreted, says something entirely different from what he had assumed: she wanted her family to be one.
