A Texas teen moves to New York City to follow her dreams and ends up as a nanny for a high-profile couple's four children.

The series follows Jessie Prescott, a small-town young woman with big dreams who, rebelling against her strict father, decides to leave the Texas military base where she grew up and move to New York City. She accepts a job as a nanny and moves into a multi-million-dollar penthouse on the Upper West Side with the wealthy Ross family which includes: jet-setting parents Morgan and Christina; their four rambunctious children Emma, Luke, Ravi, and Zuri; and the family pet (and Ravi's companion) Mr. (later Mrs.) Kipling, a 7-foot (2-meter) Asian water monitor that turns out to be female. With a whole new world of experiences open to her, Jessie embarks on new adventures in the big city as she grows to rely on the love and support of the children in her care. Assisting her are the family's sarcastic butler Bertram and the building's 20-year-old doorman Tony.—Anonymous

Jessie Prescott (Debby Ryan) is a 19-year old teen from Texas who moves to the one area where she can actually become someone special: New York City. There she lands a job as a nanny for the children of married film directors who live in a penthouse. Her troubles start with pretty, fashion-addicted 13-year-old Emma Ross (Peyton List); freckle-faced, handsome, 12-year-old "player" Luke Ross (Cameron Boyce); lizard-loving 10-year-old Hindu outcast Ravi Ross (Karen Brar); Chubby-the-Bear and pony-loving 7-year-old Zuri Ross (Skai Jackson)--and lazy, sarcastic butler Bertram (Kevin Chamberlin). Jessie eventually learns to care for the children and somehow starts dating Tony, the doorman (Chris Galya).

Texas native Jessie Prescott arrives in New York City with dreams of becoming a singer and actress. Jessie's dreams are delayed when she realizes that her wallet has been stolen. Without any money, Jessie accepts a job as nanny to four wealthy children: fashion-obsessed teenager Emma; pint-sized ladies' man Luke (who takes a liking to Jessie); India native Ravi who has a 7-foot pet lizard; and the sassy and rebellious Zuri from Uganda, Africa. During Jessie's role as nanny, she falls in love with a handsome doorman Tony and starts to care about the rambunctious Ross kids as her family. Along the way, Jessie goes on hilarious adventures with the four kids and their pet lizard, but she must put up with a lazy butler and a stuffy money-obsessed owner of their penthouse.—dawsonpersi
