Seventeen-year-old JR Sylliboy lives on the Black Bear First Nations with his widowed, environmentalist mother, Anna. He is summoned upon by the brother of his late father, his recently-released-from-prison uncle, Arty, who has now been incarcerated in the state of Maine, as a result of an altercation with some locals. Once united, the pair venture on a summer road trip, to the State of Maine, which takes them on an unforgettable journey.
