Summaries

-Elisa Boussac, a wealthy French woman, left her country and husband after the birth of her daughter Martine, 18 years ago. She settled, alone, in the depths of Quebec (in Canada), in a small village on the edge of the forest. There, she runs a farm with her foreman Marcellin, who loves her with an unconfessed love. Bewitching to the men, and therefore jealous of the women, "the Frenchwoman" leads a life of hard work and struggle, against herself and the harsh winter weather. Her daughter arrives, knocked up by a Quebecer, who has also fled France to avoid scandal. Élisa and Martine are soon joined by Jérôme, the child's biological father. Originally from Quebec, he has been living in France for four years and works for Boussac Enterprises. His arrival unleashes passions that were thought to have been extinguished forever.
