Synopsis

Laali Khanna (Supriya Pathak) and Pinky Bhalla (Poonam Dhillon) are mothers and can't stand each other. Laali and Pinky studied together in college and were best friends but cannot stand each other now. They run into each other at social functions and end up bickering about everything. Their animosity also extends to their family members, who can't stand each other, but also cannot understand why they are fighting in the first place.

Saanjh Bhalla (Sonnalli Seygall) and Puneet Khanna (Sunny Singh) are their kids, who study at the same college and can't stand each other. To top it off, the Khanna's and the Bhalla's are next door neighbors. Teji (Tina Bhatia) is Laali's maid who Laali uses in her feud against Pinky by dumping her trash in Pinky's house.

But secretly Saanjh and Puneet love each other and only show their hatred in public as they don't want to anger their mums. Saanjh is worried that college is about to end, and it will not be possible to continue their charade of animosity when they are living at home full-time. Puneet wants things to continue the way they are. Before college ends, Saanjh breaks up with Puneet when he does not accept her marriage proposal (Saanjh proposes to Puneet publicly after the end of the college farewell party).Saanjh says that she will convince both mothers, but Puneet is afraid of the consequences if their mother's find out about their affair. Saanjh is afraid that Puneet will only marry a girl that his mother approves of.

Puneet's family shifts to Ghaziabad, from Delhi, and as such Puneet and Saanjh don't even see each other anymore.

Soon both move their different ways as they get jobs and settle down in their new lives. Puneet gets a job offer in Dubai and Laali wants to go with him. Laali believes that Dubai girls are very clever, and she is afraid that one of them will snare Puneet. While Saanjh's mother sets her up for arranged marriage meetings with prospective grooms. Eventually Saanjh says yes to a timid guy Dev (Bhuvan Arora) from a super wealthy family. Dev has a fake British accent that he picked up during a brief vacation to London.

Laali finds out that Pinky has arranged a suitable match for Saanjh and the wedding date is set.Laali decides to get Puneet married on the same day as Pinky. She gets Puneet engaged to a super religious girl Shruti (Shiwani Saini). Shruti is the type of girl who went on a family trip to Bangkok and visited all the temples there.

After engagements, Puneet starts pursuing Saanjh to try and convince her to marry him, but now Saanjh acts very pricey and choosy and won't be easily convinced. Puneet makes a blunder by saying, that he thought if he has to marry someone, it might as well be Saanjh. Saanjh says that she will not leave Delhi and is not interested in a job and wants to do her own business after marriage. She also conditions that after marriage Puneet and Saanjh will live separate from Puneet's parents as she does not feel it is fair that after marriage only the bride is expected to leave her home.

Puneet comes to Saanjh's home at home, and she smuggles him into her room. They eventually have sex and decide to be together forever. Now the challenge is to convince their mothers. The mothers, meanwhile, have booked the same venue, the same decorators and the same caterers for the wedding.

They try to figure out what started the fight between their mothers but get nowhere. Even their fathers are not aware of the core issue between Pinky and Laali. They visit the college principal where they both studied, and even meet their common friend Harmeet. Pinky and Laali themselves don't want to talk about the incident that started the fight between them.

They then try to elope before their respective weddings. Puneet and Saanjh meet at the marriage bureau but realize that they getting married without their family. They retract at the last minute for the fear that their mothers might get a heart attack or something. They are now resigned to their separate fates with wedding in 3 days' time.

They try for a day and can't stay without each other. So, they decide to tell their dads Puneet's father Trilochan (Rajendra Sethi), Saanjh's father Gurpal Bhalla (Danish Hussain) and Pinky's dad (Sharat Saxena). They are very supportive of this match, but they are also afraid to involve their wives.

So, as last resort, Puneet tells Shruti that he is gay, and Saanjh tells Dev that she had veracious sexual relations with her 4 previous boyfriends. But this backfires as both spouses turn out to be ultra supportive.

The wedding is on. Now the drama starts that Saanjh and Puneet's relatives start spreading rumors about them individually (Saanjh had sex with 4 boyfriends and Puneet can't walk properly). This leads to confrontation with the other party and eventually leads to wedding being called off.

Now the 2 dads take advantage of the situation to get their wives together and agree to marry Puneet and Saanjh as already lot of money has been spent. The ladies eventually figure out that their kids were taking them for a ride and Puneet admits.

Puneet also tells them that he figured out that Pinky and Laali were best friends in college and had a fight over a boy whom they both had a crush on. But the guy married a third girl and since then the 2 ladies had been fighting. Puneet asks them to patch up and everybody is happy again!!
