Synopsis

Its Name Was Mormo is a collectively sourced collaboration of police case files regarding the missing Bowers family. The history of Mormo is of importance in order to understand what happened to them over the case of several months... beginning with the story of Mormo's origins.

The original ancient Greek story of Mormo is the tale of a disfigured girl, talked about through the ages by townsfolk from Greek provinces. Mormo was born with severe deformities, who suffered from the lack of love and acceptance from her parents, who, overwhelmed by shame, abandoned her in a distant mountainous area. Despite her pleas for compassion, Mormo was left alone to face the harsh realities of survival.

Isolated, Mormo hunted animals and fashioned shelter from their skins. With each passing day, her heart and soul became consumed by a growing resentment and hatred towards the world that had rejected her. In her darkest moments, Mormo was visited by a demon named Empusa, who presented her with a box reminiscent of Pandora. The demon suggested she confine her feelings of hatred and pain within the box to find happiness. Desperate for relief, Mormo followed the demon's advice, unknowingly falling into a trap.

Returning to the town, she encountered children who, instead of understanding her pain, labeled her as a demon, witch, and vampire. The adults influenced by prejudice, bound her and callously set her ablaze while still alive. Mormo's agonising screams echoed, yet amidst the pain, her love for children and humanity intensified.

From the ashes of her past, Mormo experienced a rebirth, fuelled by a vengeful determination that initially targeted the town's children. Night after night, she visited those who harmed her, consuming their blood and flesh as Mormo discovered a thirst for insatiable revenge.

As the children vanished, the community rallied to search for them. The grim discovery of remains appeared skulls and bones, followed by a putrid stench revealed the haunting truth, discovered at the very same cave where Mormo once fought for survival.

Over time, the town fell into abandonment, distancing itself from the horrors that unfolded. Eventually, the Knights Templar and the Holy Catholic Church resettled the forsaken town and sought to confine her within the very same box Empusa had given Mormo. Guarded by the Knights Templar for years, this box became the vessel for trapping the dark entity that haunted the shadows of the past.

Its Name Was Mormo follows the accounts of when a modern young family discover the box of Mormo and catalogues the events which follow...
