Tired of conforming to the worlds definition of beauty, actress Yolanda Lee goes behind the camera to film a documentary along with Richard Lewis about the social issues surrounding black women and their hair. At the risk of damaging her career, she decides to cut off her trademark curly natural. What starts out as a hairstyle change sparks heated conversations about race, relationships and charging dogs. During production she begins to question her desires, sacrifices and finds the courage to just let go.
