Synopsis

In February 1993, the world watched as the biggest armed siege in modern American history unfolded in Texas. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms raid a compound belonging to a religious cult called the Branch Davidians. A gunfight breaks out that leaves six Branch Davidians and four ATF agents dead. The FBI launches a dawn assault. Using military tanks they inject tear gas through the walls and windows in an attempt to force the Branch Davidians out. Rather than surrender, besieged cult members set fire to their compound. In less than twenty minutes the entire building is alight. Seventy-six people including two pregnant women and twenty-eight children were killed during the fire. The bungled raid, on the headquarters of the extreme religious group led by David Koresh, culminated in the deaths of 84 men, women and children, including 22 Britons. Now, using dramatic reconstruction, first person testimony, FBI recordings and home video footage, Inside Waco reveals what really happened during the bloody 51-day siege. With first-hand accounts from those closest to the action, including: Byron Sage, the FBI's lead negotiator and Jeff Jarmer, who led the FBI operation; plus British Branch Davidians Derek Lovelock and Natalie Norbrega - both cult members speaking on television for the first time. FBI surveillance tapes from the time of the siege give a unique insight into the tense negotiations and the film reveals extraordinary footage, shot from inside the compound by the Davidians themselves, where they made their last desperate appeal to the FBI.
