Imken von der Becke, a young management consultant from Hamburg, decides to work in Graifenhain, Poland. She is to help a sheet metal processing plant to select the buyer from among potential private buyers from Switzerland and West Germany who will convert the company into a market economy with the least possible financial and personnel sacrifices. As a woman from a well-known middle-class family, her adventurous plan to work in the "desolate East" of all places is met with resistance from her Hamburg friend.—Filmdienst
