Summaries

An interview with Kristina Söderbaum - Born in Sweden 1912, the daughter of a chemistry professor who sat on the Nobel Prize committee, she initially studied art, but after the death of her parents, who opposed her theatrical ambitions, she went to Berlin to train for the stage under Rudolph Klein-Rogge. Beginning in 1935, Kristina Söderbaum starred in a number of films with director Veit Harlan, whom she married in 1939. According to film historian Antje Ascheid, Söderbaum is frequently identified as "most singularly representative of the Nazi ideal, as the quintessential Nazi star".—The Guardian
