Summaries

A documentary film set in Salina, Aeolian archipelago north of Sicily. An island, known mostly in the summer, that reveals itself after the departure of the tourists, along the months in which a thousand people deals with the slow passage of time. A simple storytelling, no interviews, no narrating voice but the power of its images: over fifty sequences, places and faces constantly evolving, an use of heterogeneous lenses, audio environment built on a 'self-sufficient' sound narrative and a minimalist musical soundtrack. 'One year's remainder' shows the reality of a simple world within a few miles from the 'Continent,' narrating its little surprises: the fortuitous meeting between fishermen off the coast, a fire, the unexpected arrival on a day in spring.—Anonymous
