Synopsis

This road movie tells the story of Jen Belstaff (Amanda Garwood) a mother of three - Lucy, Wills & Jake - and wife of James (Richard Shelton ).

We join them as they begin a well earned holiday in France in a VW campervan. However, after hearing a message from Jamess lover on his mobile phone, Jen dumps him at a French service station and heads south with the children. Her sister Katie (Claire Parker) decides to join them in France even though Jen and Katie dont really get on, and Jens children refer to her as Horrid Auntie Katie.

Katies motive for coming to the rescue lies far from giving Jen any real help. Katie has been having a long-term affair with her boss Paul, who having decided the credit crunch was going to finish his business has enlisted her in the clandestine removal of a bag-load of cash. He wants her to smuggle it out of England and stash it somewhere on the continent.

Jen decides to take the children (and Katie) and follow the medieval pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela: the route to the final resting place of St. James the Greater in Western Spain. The journey takes them through southern France, over the magnificent Pyrenees mountains and across the arid plains of Spain.

As well as meeting a delightful recovering alcoholic monk named Geoffrey (Saul Jephcott),  the gang also meet Elvis (Samuel Kane) - a charismatic Elvis impersonator, trying to get to a camp site in Santiago for a gig. As the band of merry travellers grows larger by the day, a sinister figure in a car seems to be following them. Katie is convinced that the mystery car is after her and the money.

When Jen discovers that they have been carrying stolen money, and that her children may well be in danger, the already strained relationship between Jen and Katie reaches breaking point.

The journey reveals Jens strengths as she fights to put her life back together, fights to learn to love her sister and fights to get Elvis to the gig on time. Will she find it in her heart to forgive and forget? Find out in this life-affirming and often surprising road trip accross southern Europe.
