A suicidal World War I veteran and an antique dealer, both already married to others, embark on a love affair.

Dignified middle-aged barrister Gordon Evers is depressed and suicidal following an injury he suffered during WWI. Sarah Cazenove, an antique dealer, is likewise depressed and suicidal due to her husband's dishonesty and infidelity. Gordon and Sarah fall in love. The relationship is healing for both, but society frowns on their liaison as both are still married.—Molly Malloy
