Synopsis

A poor grandmother Ameena lives alone with her 7 year old grandson Hamid, in a quaint little village at the foothills of the Himalayas.Despite poverty, Ameena lives a life of integrity and self-respect. While most of the villagers look at her with respect, some of them are envious of the good upbringing she has given to her grandson.It's the last day of Ramadan. Ameena is up before dawn, making rotis, (Indian bread). Hamid is on her lap as she roasts rotis on the fire stove with her bare hands. Ameena convinces Hamid to keep his last fast by promising him 5 rupees as Eidie. Hamid gleefully agrees. He spends the entire day with his friends talking and daydreaming of going to the fair. Ameena works relentlessly through the day but eventually she ends up saving only a 5-rupee coin. She secures the coin by tying it to the end of her stole saving it for Hamid.Next morning, it is Eid. Ameena lovingly sees Hamid off for the namaz (morning prayer). As she turns to go inside her house, she realizes that the five rupee coin which she had tied to her stole to give it to Hamid as Edie is missing. Ameena can't believe that the coin she has guarded is missing. She cannot let Hamid down. She can't bear to break her promise to Hamid. She the desperately searches for the coin everywhere.A chain of events start that end up with grandmother and grandson discovering hidden sides to each other.Finally, what unfolds is a heartwarming story of how beautiful life is when it is full of innocence and love.
