Ice Fishing Hardcore and host Joshua Leiter travel the northern United States to show viewers real ice fishermen out on hardwater. Americana thru the eyes of a lens. A family oriented sport where fishermen battle thin ice as well as mother nature for the trill of the catch. Many species of fish were caught throughout the season including; walleye, northern pike, white perch, lake trout, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, whitefish, cusk, rainbow trout, chain pickerel, brook trout, horned pout, and more. Notable catches were walleye close to the New York State record, a lamprey attached to a northern pike on Lake Champlain, the blackest lake trout we ever saw caught by Joshua in Maine, ice fishing for horned pout in March, supersize white perch out of Lake Winnipesaukee, and the hundreds of northern pike caught in Vermont. One of the fishermen is stung by a horned pout in episode (7) seven explaining how to handle this species, episode (5) starts with a supersize walleye, lots of miles to travel checking traps at Fort Peck Montana, and New York was a very difficult shoot as the ice was thin and it was very windy. The tips, techniques, and gear used by the fishermen are their own as the show is not an advertisement but real fishermen doing their thing. The show is unscripted and features sportspersons that love the sport of ice fishing. Many places visited during the season were very remote and offer scenic vistas of untamed America. This season the show filmed in the states of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Montana.
