This documentary follows the last two years in the life of the famous Danish jazz bassist Hugo Rasmussen. He tells about his huge record collection, we follow him and his orchestra to various performances, and we take part in his daily life. Sadly he eventually dies from prostate cancer.
Hugo Rasmussen became one of the greatest Danish jazz icons of our time. In his more than 50-year career, he managed to record over 1000 records and perform with Ben Webster, Dexter Gordon and Cornelis Vreejswijk. In exclusive recordings, we follow the last two years of Hugo's life until his death in August 2015. We experience his consistent charm and great joy of life, which not even the doctors' death sentence can overcome. We see him unleashing himself on stage for the last time, and we feel his inspiring nature rub off on young as well as old musicians around him. A legend retires.
