"Hrvatska trazi zvijezdu" was music casting show based on British television format "Pop Idol" and aired on Croatian RTL Televison. Series lasted for three seasons in a row and was at the time of airing most popular show of its kind on Croatian television. Each season was divided into two main parts. During first part, so called jury castings, jury would pick best singing candidates from many that applied. Best candidates then would proceed to second part of the season, live shows. During live shows candidates performed various music hits while viewers voted for the candidates which was crucial for staying in the competition. The final winner usually won contract with music label.
