A man and woman meet under the assumption that the other has money, and neither of them does.

June Evans, clothing model, and Tommy Bradford, travel agent, both dream of being rich. When they meet at millionaire, J. Westley Piermont's daughter's wedding, they both assume each other is wealthy. Each being there to do errands. Piermont having a very poor memory unknowingly helps June and Tommy confirm their lies. The two begin to date, resulting in each other trying to outdo the other. But both have no money.—Kelly

Tommy Bradford and June Evans meet at a high society wedding reception. They are instantly attracted to each other since each sees in the other a real person, not like the upper crust snobs they've previously met. That's because neither is really rich as the other believes he/she is, they both at the reception for work purposes, he a travel agency clerk, she working for a couturier. Because each believes the other is out of their league socially, they are reluctant to start anything. However, they do end up getting together, with each putting on false airs to impress the other. His friends and her family do whatever they can to advance the relationship, if only to provide each with a shot at a better lot in life. Each vows to tell the other the truth, but her gambling addicted brother, a Chinese food dinner party and a St. Bernard add complications to the proceedings before the truth can come out.—Huggo
