The successful tournament rider Andrea Bruckheim suffers a heavy blow of fate when her favorite horse, Magic, collapses
Andrea Bruckheim has actually achieved everything she always dreamed of. The successful tournament rider runs a thriving riding stable on a picturesque property. The affiliated hotel of her husband Thomas is permanently fully booked. And their two teenage children, Eva and Max, are - apart from lovesickness and math homework - very alert. But over the years, the marriage routine has left its mark. The two of them don't pull together like they used to, each has got his teeth into his tasks. Supported by his sister-in-law Inge, who is more than just a help to him, Thomas devotes himself entirely to the hotel business. And Andrea is fully focused on preparing for the big championship, where she is one of the favourites. The marital crisis becomes obvious when Thomas forgets the 16th wedding anniversary and fails to show up for Andrea's most important horse show the next day. To make matters worse, Andrea is shocked by a tragic event during the competition: Shortly before the finish, her beloved horse Magic, with whom she has achieved so much success, collapses and dies. Witness to this moving scene is Hans Duwe, a man with a lot of horse sense who immediately falls in love with the attractive Andrea. Andrea also feels drawn to Hans from the first moment. It later turns out that Thomas and Hans spent their youth together. Since Andrea never wants to ride again after Magic's death, Thomas hires his childhood friend of all people as a riding instructor. An offer that Hans gladly accepts because it allows him to be close to Andrea.—ADR Das Erste
