"Herman", based on Lars Saabye Christensen's novel of the same name, tells the story of the young boy Herman who suddenly loses his hair and becomes bald at the age of eleven. In Norway, the boy Herman Fulkt lives with his father, who is a crane operator; his mother; and his grandfather that is very ill but gives attention to his grandson. Herman is bullied at school but the red-haired mate Ruby likes him. When Herman goes to the barber shop to cut his hair, the barber Tjukken asks to talk to his mother.
