In 2004 a suspect, Ulf Olsson, was found after a DNA test. In April 2003 Chief Criminal Investigator Per-Åke Åkesson headed the new task force. One of his subordinate was Criminal Inspector Monica Olhed. The new police investigation included a list of 29 names from which a final check would be made.
