Can one bike ride through Southern Africa change lives?

Headwinds of Poverty is a documentary about three normal Aussie guys who thought riding their mountain bikes 5500km through 7 Southern African countries sounded like a good idea. Their hope was to ride 200km + a day for 27 days in order to raise ongoing support for 200 children living in extreme poverty to attend and complete their primary education, as part of a holistic development project. Throughout the journey, the riders had to face numerous difficulties including, headwinds, terrain, weather, border crossings, roads - or lack thereof - limited supplies and a diet that consisted at some points of chocolate, coke and chips in order to achieve the near impossible target. From the very start to the very end it was all about raising funds and awareness for vulnerable children. What happens in-between is what makes the documentary one crazy adventure. For our end goal to be achieved we require $210,000 to be raised. Or simply $12.50 per child per month for 7 years, will see 200 children complete their entire primary education. Headwinds of Poverty is a partnership between Orsino Media and Eagles Wings, with Global Development Group responsible to AusAid for the project being supported in Zambia.—Ben Whimpey
