Harlem, 1958. As a disturbed woman prepares to murder Martin Luther King Jr., an African-American heart surgeon becomes the only person capable of saving King's life, in turn changing the fate of a nation.

Harlem 58 is the true untold story of the attempted assassination of Martin Luther King Jr in 1958 by Izola Curry, and the subsequent effort to save his life by Dr. John Cordice. It's a story that depicts a little-known but crucial event in Civil Rights history, a neo-noir thriller that explores the effects of generational trauma and mental health in the Black American community, and a spiritual epic about how one person can alter destiny and the fate of an entire nation. Izola is a survivor of trauma, abuse and poverty, whose battle with schizophrenia, leads her to an inexplicable act. Izola - a woman who is radicalized by fearmongering of the media, and Red Scare rhetoric of figureheads like J. Edgar Hoover, to view Martin Luther King Jr as a threat to the American way of life - and try to kill him. Izola's arc takes her from powerless victim, to ruthless perpetrator and from a state of invisibility to complete notoriety. In fact, she outlives most everyone else in this story.—Producer: Elliott D. Yancey
