The pretty and clever Halima charms the emir with stories that she tells him every night.

Beautiful Princess Halima is waiting in her palace for Prince Nureddin to become her husband. They take Shah Ruman prisoner and inform her that they have arrested the murderer of the king's father. In the meantime, while waiting in the vestibule, he meets the cook of the palace, Ali Mousakas, and hides him from his jealous wife, Amina. Halima, believing that Shah Ruman is a guest, she falls in love with him; however, when Vizier Abdul informs her that her lover is the captive murderer, bewildered, she postpones the execution, against the will of the people. But, Shah Ruman persuades Moussaka to pose as Nureddin, and everyone welcomes him as the new king. Then, a mysterious stranger arrives.—Nick Riganas
