A marshal assumes the identity of an outlaw in the wild town of Gunsight.

Finding a man alone in the desert, Marshal Tom is relieved - of his horse, clothes and water. When he catches up to Raven, he finds him dying from drinking bad water. When Marshal Tom O'Malley finds a dying outlaw known as the Raven, he takes the Raven's letter of introduction to gang boss Flash Arnold. With the help of his assiciate Sam McGee he convinces Arnold he is the Raven and having said he killed the incoming Marshal, he becomes the new Marshal. But instead of becoming Arnold's stooge, he upholds the law and breaks up a robbery attempt by Arnold's men.
