Lin Jing Yun, a Chinese-American food critic, travels to Shanghai to reconnect with her heritage. There, she discovers an old diary belonging to Duan Tian Ying, a woman from the 1920s. As Lin reads about Tian Ying’s life, she learns of a complicated love triangle. Tian Ying is torn between two men: the kind Xu Xing Cheng, who she’s beginning to fall for, and the arrogant Luo Fu Sheng, who intrigues her.
