Synopsis

A 35-year-old video game tester, Alex (Allen Covert) and his roommate Josh (Jonathan Loughran) are playing video games together, when their landlord Yuri (Rob Schneider) informs them that they are being thrown out for rent delinquency, which turns out to be because of the roommate's penchant for Filipino hookers. Yuri purposely breaks one of their bongs, and has his movers trash everything that doesn't belong to them, forcing Alex to find a new place to live.

Alex tries to crash with his friend/weed-dealer Dante (Peter Dante), but cannot do so because Dante is adopting a wild lion to live in the house. Alex is offered a place to stay by his Grandmother Lilly (Doris Roberts). He politely turns it down and goes to stay with his friend/co-worker Jeff (Nick Swardson). But after being caught masturbating by (and ejaculating on) Jeff's mother, Alex winds up spending the night at the office.

Alex is woken up by Samantha (Linda Cardellini), a consultant hired to help with game development. While Alex demonstrates his gaming prowess with some of the younger employees, Samantha has a meeting with the company owner, new-age nut Mr. Cheezle (Kevin Nealon), and meets the antagonist, game design prodigy JP (Joel Moore). J.P. is a self-proclaimed "genius" who is obsessed with video games and has a crush on Samantha. Samantha is not interested in J.P. and declines his constant advances.

Alex is soon humbled into accepting his Grandma's offer of a room, and meets her roommates, over-sexed Grace (Shirley Jones) and over-medicated Bea (Shirley Knight).Alex is given many chores and fix-up projects to do around the house but has a hard time completing them because his grandmother and her friends are a constant distraction. He also finds it hard to get any work done. This subsequently begins to affect his job performance.Alex's co-workers Jeff, Barry (Jonah Hill) and Kane (Kelvin Yu) prove to be no help, and Alex is forced to think of a plan. After borrowing an illegal cable box from Dante so that he can get cable TV, Alex discovers that the three women have a fascination with the television program Antiques Roadshow and later is able to get some work finished by giving them tickets to attend a taping of the show.

Samantha has been hired by Cheezle to ensure that JP's new game is released on time. Samantha organizes the team including Alex & has them quickly make progress.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to sound cool to his younger co-workers, Alex says that he is living "with three hot babes". Alex's friends believe the lie and actually think the reason he is so tired every day at work is because he is living with three women who constantly "wear him out" in the bedroom. The real cause of his fatigue is because he stays up late at night working on his own video game called Demonik which he has been developing in secret for some time. Lilly asks about the game one night and he teaches her to play it. To his surprise, she becomes quite good at it and beats many levels.

Alex offers the ladies tickets to the show and gets them to go to bed early. After a motivational joint, Alex manages to finish his office work assigned by Samantha. The next day, after a meeting, Alex, Samantha, Jeff, Barry, and Kane all go out to celebrate the completion of testing on JP's game. After a run-in with a new-age restaurant and waiter Shiloh (David Spade), the crew ends up at Alex's Grandmother's house. When Jeff has to use the bathroom and refuses to use the one in the restaurant, Alex is forced to take everyone to his house. They find the ladies laughing hysterically as they watch Spanish television. They soon realize why; Grandma Lilly and her roommates drank tea made of Alex's marijuana.

When Samantha admits to smoking weed too, Alex gets more weed from Dante, a huge amount of people start showing up at the house, and a major party breaks out.The next day, Alex and Samantha affirm their feelings for each other. This is much to the chagrin of JP, who had been pathetically trying to woo Samantha. JP has a breakdown, and winds up at Alex's grandmother's house to talk to him. JP discovers the game that Alex had been developing himself and is threatened by how well it has been made. Feeling bad for him, Alex agrees to let him borrow his only copy of Demonik and test it out for a few days. Instead, JP steals the game and presents it at a meeting the next day as his own.

Alex is infuriated, and after accusing JP of the theft, he is asked to prove his accusations, but because he had been making the game in secret, he cannot prove ownership. Incensed at the idea of apologizing to JP, Alex quits his job and leaves. He heads over to Dante's house, and orders him to roll a joint containing several different kinds of super-potent weed. Dante gladly agrees, and they begin to smoke it. In an effort to find the truth, Samantha visits Lilly and inquiries about Alex. Lilly doesn't know where he is but offers to help after she hears about the game. As it turns out, Lilly is the only other person who knows about Alex's game.

Everyone is now in Mr. Cheezle's office. The plan to prove Alex's ownership of the game is this: Lilly will challenge JP at the game. JP at first scoffs at the idea of playing an elderly lady, which prompts Lilly to accept the challenge. After nearly losing the battle, Lilly hits a special code which makes her character utterly destroy JP's character. Mr. Cheezle apologizes to Alex and offers him his job back. The movie ends with a party at Dante's house to celebrate the release of Alex's game.
