Synopsis

From a complete darkness, a small luminous matter takes form. This small matter inflates until it explodes into galaxies and other celestial objects - this is the Big Bang or the most accepted theory of the beginning of the universe. Janus Paraiso contemplates this. He wonders what it will feel like to explode and be the reason for all good things. Knowing that he can't imitate the Big Bang literally, he comes up with a different idea: for good things to happen, he must leave and never come back. This is the day that he plans to do it. He wears his farewell clothes, eats his last meal, utters his last words, and bids his house farewell. He will take only his beloved car with him as well as his late mother's suitcase and a few possessions. He is ready to depart except he forgets his car key inside the house, a young man wants to ask him for directions, an angry woman almost swings a metal to his car, his bag keeps on falling, the car needs fixing, and across the street a pregnant woman has just gone into labor. He calls the ambulance right away. But she can no longer wait for the ambulance to arrive. Though he has no idea what to do, he rushes across the street to walk her to the car and help her deliver the baby. After a great deal of cries from the mother, the baby's cry starts to join the chorus. The sound of ambulance follows. He looks at the mother and her new-born baby being taken to the hospital. He takes it all in. It is a rare, beautiful, inexplicable moment. Maybe he isn't as worthless as he thought. After a state of calm and he is alone again, he remembers the plan. He opens the door of his car and carries the suitcase back to his front gate. He leaves it there for a while to bring all his other belongings back inside. When he is done, the suitcase is gone. He looks everywhere but it is nowhere to be found. He sits down, as if defeated. A few seconds later, Jill Dela Rosa stands in front of him. She accuses him of breaking into her house and stealing her late father's toolbox. She attempts to throw a rock into his car to express her anger but she falls in disbelief as soon as she recognizes it. It is the exact same car that crashed into her father's and caused him to die. Janus' mother died from that crash too and losing his mother's suitcase is like losing her completely. Jill feels the same. But without any leads, hopeless is where she finds herself. But then a thief comes running from nowhere and the rock comes flying from her hand to the thief's head. The thief drops unconscious. She carries him inside Janus' house so they can interrogate him when he wakes up. But he stays asleep the whole evening no matter how many times they try to wake him back up. After a while, Jill realizes that they should just take out everything inside his pockets. Janus then finds a list of address bearing the logo of Magna Cum Laude, an organization of thieves. He figures that the thief in front of them is not the one they are looking for. The thief who stole their suitcase and toolbox is named Spanky. His next target is at a house party not far away from Janus' house. Knowing that unconscious thief is no longer useful, they drive around looking for a spot where they can left him. Janus lays him by the sidewalk and drives away. When they are gone, the thief stands up and walks away like nothing happened.

When Jill and Janus reach Spanky's next target, they try to come up with a plan. They tell each other to focus and to never let anyone out of their sight, especially anyone who behaves weirdly. Their final rule is that neither of them is allowed to drink alcohol. Both agree so they walk in. After what seems like a good deal of drinks, terribly drunk Jill and Janus breaks into a dance. It seems as though they are having the time of their lives and their initial plan is thrown into the trash. Later, they can't remember the name of the thief they are looking for so they proceed to go back to the car. A drunk man emerges from nowhere and greets them. Then they drive away. Jill notices cans of beer from the backseat, reaches for two, and gives one to Janus. He takes it. But then his car is caught in a dreadful crash. Instead of dying, they find themselves back outside the house party. Drunk man greets them once again as they approach the car. Jill reaches for the cans of beer like she did before just as Janus begins to pull away. Remembering, he gets off the car to make sure that his car will not T-bone another car again. The exact same car does emerge but it doesn't crash into his. It just passes by. He goes back inside and continues driving. He drinks his beer, turns his car to the right, and accidentally crashes yet again into another car. Back outside the house party, they find themselves less drunk but more confused. They rush inside the car and are about to drive away when they hear the drunk man says his greetings, but not to them. There are another Jill and Janus walking to the car. The real ones hide in the backseat as the doubles drive around and drink their cans of beer. They pull over a convenience store to buy more. The real Jill and Janus get back on their seats as the doubles exit the store. But another car runs over them before they even reach the car. The real Jill and Janus drives away and goes to Spanky's 8 AM target which is the Blade Auto Center. It is their last chance to capture him so they must arrive on time. But they fail. Their disappointment builds up so they release it by going wild at the store. A Blade employee named Daniel captures and interrogates them. He tells them that he will never let them go. Except he lets his guard down by mentioning his girlfriend Camille. Jill and Janus take it as an opportunity to trick him into thinking that they saw her outside. Daniel immediately hurries out at the mention of her name. It is their chance to escape and they take it. They leave the store unnoticed.

While Janus' car is parked and they are talking about the lost suitcase and toolbox, Spanky attempts to steal the car. The sound of the engine starting interrupts their conversation. Spanky pulls away. They run after him. The car slows to a stop. The engine fails Spanky so he's left with no other choice but to give himself up. He defends himself by saying he thought it is his car. But Jill and Janus were having none of it. They get him inside and find out that he's the one they've been looking for. They ask him where he keeps their parents' belongings. When Jill attempts to punch him, he finally admits to selling them at a house nearby. Believing he is telling the truth, they join him in stealing them back. They succeed. Spanky gives them back the suitcase and the toolbox. They let him go unharmed. Finally, there is silence that they don't want to fill with words, so they erupt into a fit of laughter instead. It is the first time they ever see each other laugh and it is a sight to behold.
