Golden Blade III is based on a magical sword that is coveted by the evil Mala Wang. Our hero, Chen Zen, fights to protect the blade from falling into the wrong hands. The movie is subtitled AND overdubbed, with specific attention to purposeful grammar and spelling mistakes in the subtitles for that authentic Kung-Fu feel. None of the voice overs are correctly translated, and some of the talents even made up their own Asian-sounding speech. The final stages of the film also include dumbing down the video to look rather washed out and old to mimic the cheaper film stock, and poor developing that Asian filmmakers of the seventies could afford.—T.J.
