Jefferson Russett runs a logging company; his brother, Steve, is the prodigal son. Jeff cuts off his allowance and puts him to work, but on his first day, he is tricked into signing a contract allowing arch-rivals Barton Logging to use Russett railways. Jeff hauls Steve up to the logging camp, but he steals a plane. It runs out of gas in Barton territory, where spitfire Jo is running the camp. Naturally, this shrew must be tamed, so Steve, calling himself Steve Martin, sets out to do just that as he's trapped in the camp for two months until the next boat anyhow.—Jon Reeves <[email protected]>

Russett Lumber and Barton Lumber are competing family businesses headquartered in Vancouver, there no love lost between the two families in that competition. Steve Russett is an executive at Russett, although he, traveling between the sales offices throughout the world in being the Foreign Sales Agent, does no work in spending his time with a different woman on his arm in each city as he parties each and every night away. He finances his nights out and whatever gifts he bestows on the women solely on the company's dime. His brother, President Jefferson Russett, believes Steve is able to do good work if he had some supervision, hence Jeff's directive for Steve to come back to Vancouver. When Steve's move back to head office doesn't improve his work performance, Jeff takes the final straw in Steve learning the business first hand by shipping him to work at their isolated primary logging camp/mill, with the added benefit that there are no women to provide a distraction. Having none of that, Steve does whatever he can to get back to civilization and his playboy life. He gets as far as the neighboring Barton logging camp, he unable to get any further until the next ship leaves, which isn't for another forty days. As such, he is forced to work at the camp under the field manager, Jo Barton, he not telling her or anyone else at the camp his true identity. Steve's attraction to Jo is arguably as she is the first woman who doesn't fall for his charms. His time out in the isolation of the logging camp gives Steve a different perspective of the business and the family feud as he starts to fall in love with Jo.—Huggo
