Get Hooked is a 6-part documentary series that investigates how six underrepresented, Canadian, angling enthusiasts, use nature/fishing to benefit their mental health. Through the POV of a comedic group of queer outsiders, the audience is asked to consider why the mental health benefits of fishing and nature aren't marketed to everyone. Get Hooked strives to break down barriers to the mental health benefits of nature and change the narrative around queer, black, brown, indigenous, and disabled people in the outdoors. Get Hooked includes more narration/voice-over than a standard documentary as it utilizes a new Canadian-created technology called Integrated Described Video (A blind audience member and a sighted audience member can both watch the show together without a Described Video voice interrupting the story). Get Hooked celebrates the best that Canada has to offer in the way of nature/fishing and resources for mental health no matter your race, gender, sexuality, or disability.
