The story initially focuses on the 13-year-old waitress Maya Kitajima, who has a poor relationship with her abusive mother. Maya has a growing passion for acting and a raw talent for improvisation. Ayumi has superior experience and technical skills in comparison to Maya, but she is less skilled at providing emotional depth to her roles and stealing the show.
