A former basketball coach gets a second chance in a second-rate program.

Richard Lewis plays coach Steven Adler, a one time high profile division one college basketball coach haunted by the demon of having lost five championship titles. Now he finds himself wasting away in a slack-jawed, low profile town coaching a second rate college program. Once again, he has miraculously brought this unlikely team to the finals. As his behavior on the day of the championship game indicates, he is far more successful at the game of basketball than the game of life. The question remains: if he finally wins the big game, will Coach Adler get his life back on track or is he already too far gone... ?—Steven Weill <[email protected]>>

Steven Adler is a former Division 1 college basketball coach, shut out of the world of high-profile sports after several heartbreaking championship game losses. He washes up in a slack-jawed town, surrounded by an odd assortment of backwoods locals, coaching in a second-rate sports program. Incredibly, he takes his rag-tag team all the way to the finals; for the townsfolk, this is the biggest day of their otherwise uneventful lives. Everyone has something riding on the game, but Adler has far less lofty concerns. This played at the 1998 Nantucket Film Festival.—<[email protected]>
