In the 1980s, idealistic young people fell under the influence of Pierre Maltais, a Quebec dream salesman pretending to be an Aboriginal person.

Gaialand is a documentary about the history of an ecological utopia pushed to the extreme. In the 1970s an international group of idealist people lead by a charismatic leader, decides to create a utopia and live like a naturalist tribe in the forest. They decide to travel around the earth to spread their way of living. This documentary shows many images from the 70s and extensive interviews with people who lived in that tribe a the time and are now in their 60s. An impressive story!—msj-janssen
