Freedom In Now:The History of Freedom Incorporated is the story about the oldest African American political organization in the country. In its infancy in the 1960s, Freedom Incorporated had a reputation of shaking up the system, busting up white-controlled political machines in the black community, and fighting for public accommodations. At the height of power in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Freedom helped many African Americans get their first taste of politics. Ambitious fledgling politicians benefited from the organization's grassroots and street-level tactics in getting African Americans involved in the political process. This documentary will give viewers an understanding of the obstacles Freedom faced to gain equal rights in Kansas City.—Anonymous
