No word has entered the everyday language with the same vehemence of the word 'selfie'. What inspires millions of people around the world to photograph every moment of their private life and to share it on social networks? It is merely looking for fun? Or perhaps a sad mixture of narcissism and loneliness? Also because the will to make a mark - even if it were a self-timer - is always there, stronger than any representation of society. It hides behind the selfie that hunger for eternity, for thousands of years cuts in two the soul of man, leaving her suspended between heaven and earth. Obviously the selfie is earthy, in the sense that satisfies the flesh: I do a selfie, therefore I exist. The lesser-known aspects of one of the most common practices and stigmatized in recent years, are explored here, under a new light by the filmmaker Walter Ciusa. 'Professione Selfista' focuses on a particular category of addicted to selfies: the photo collectors with celebrities. Hunters serial of celebrities, arranged for bands, ready to crowd the backstage of concerts and the red carpets to collect photos or autographs of those who are in the spotlight. Very different people, grown up well before the digital revolution and survived to every era. People of flesh and blood, that for once, are in the spotlight. They stop to be a note of color in line with the important news and tell their wishes, their experiences, their truth.
