Fraidy is a cat on his 9th and last life. When he says the numbers 1 through 8, the ghost from that past life shows up and tries to help him. All his ghost lives always goof up, getting him into more trouble. When he says 9, that number is out to take his last life.

They include the overweight prehistoric saber-toothed tiger Elafunt, the incompetent magic user Kitty Wizard, the kleptomaniac pirate Captain Kitt, the foppish swordsman Sir Walter Cat, the Western-style cowboy Billy the Kit, the undertaker Jasper Catdaver (who insists that you can not fight against fate), the World War I pilot Captain Eddie Kittenbacker, and the World War II-era hipster Hep Cat.—Dimos I
