two kids want there parents to stay together to be miserable and make there own life miserable in the process, by having a mom and a dad who do not actually like each other stay married and probably end up physically abusing each other.

A good family falls apart, leading to a divorce. The two young children, now split up, suffer being separated from each other and the loss of a parent. In order to stay together, the children run away and go through a series of traumatic events, concluding with a courtroom challenge to the divorce legal system. The end credits show children sharing the tragic feelings resulting from divorce and separation.—Jim
