A reconstruction of the real events leading to and following the fatal aircraft accident happening near the city of Überlingen in southern Germany in 2002.
Based on a true story - the mid-air collision of Bashkirian Airlines 2937 and DHL 611.
In July 2002, a cargo aircraft and a Russian charter plane with many schoolchildren aboard cross their paths near Lake Constance. At the same time, a lone air traffic controller is distracted by third aircraft needing assistance, and assigns the same altitude to both aircraft. 71 people die.
The story follows a fireman who recovered the bodies of the innocent children, the air traffic controller who let the tragedy happen, and a grieving father from Russia who lost his family. Tragedy continues as the father stalks the air traffic controller at his home and kills him in rage.
