The first of a series of twelve-proposed features starring ex-prizefighter Billy Sullivan. He plays a washed-up, drifting fighter, reduced to the job of a cook in a small-town diner. But when a fighter fails to show up, Billy is called on to substitute and take a beating. Billy has other plans.—Les Adams <[email protected]>

Bill Damon Squires, a prizefighter from a small town, tries to break into the big time, but he is doped by his bribed trainer during his first professional fight with "Cyclone Winters," and is barred from the ring by the boxing commission on the charge of throwing the match. Bill attempts to prove his innocence with the help both of his loyal manager, Pythias, and of the girl he loves, Sally O'Leary, daughter of Danny O'Leary, who is about to lose his small café to the sheriff for nonpayment of a mortgage note. Bill eventually clears his name and wins his second professional fight with Winters, earning enough money to pay off his future father-in-law's mortgage.—AFI
