A man faces frontier corruption when he returns home to help his sister run their late father's newspaper.

Bill Fargo returns from prison to find Scanlon controlling the town including the Sheriff and the editor. First Scanlon has the Sheriff's opposition in the upcoming election murdered. Then when the editor confesses to Bill, he has him killed with Bill's gun. But the editor set off Scoops' camera just as he was shot and then left a dying note. Scoop finds the note and the inept photographer tries to develop the picture.—Maurice VanAuken <[email protected]>

When Bill Fargo (Johnny Mack Brown) and his friend "Scoop" (Fuzzy Knight)and sister, Julie Fargo (Nell O'Day)set out to establish the "Buffalo Springs Independent" as a responsible frontier newspaper, they are opposed by J.R."Cash" Scanlon (James Blaine), the crooked head of the Buffalo Springs Homestead & Development Company. But, with the backing of Judge Tyler (Joseph Eggerton, his daughter Linda (Jean Brooks) and the honest townspeople, the paper supports Tom Houston (Al Bridge)as an opposition to the crooked incumbent, Hackett (Kenneth Harlan), a crony of Scanlon. The latter has his henchman, Vic Savage (Ted Adams) kill Houston and then they pin the murder on Bill.—Les Adams <[email protected]>
