A bright future and a lovely life await the young naval officer, Yorgos Chatzinikolis, who--after years abroad--returns to Greece to reunite with his doting mother, Lina. A date for Yorgos' marriage to Lisa--the beautiful daughter of an affluent shipowner--has already been set; however, he is madly in love with another woman: Mary, the humble and honest daughter of a poor bouzouki player. Of course, Lina won't take this unforeseen complication lying down--and as she fights tooth and nail to avert the young lovers' plans--a terrible tragedy befalls Yorgos. They say love is blind.
