An ambitious salesman will do anything for that big promotion he's been chasing, but inevitably, he will learn that there is no such thing as the perfect crime.
An impending much-sought-after promotion at Yeyo's shopping mall in Madrid has created quite a stir, as a new floor supervisor needs to be chosen between Don Antonio, the helpful, experienced, yet, stern and gloomy head of the men's department and Rafael, the seductive, highly skilled salesman and head of the women's department. Without a doubt, competition is hard when there's only room for one, however, when the suave and sophisticated Rafael loses out to his inelegant arch nemesis, he will find himself in a very tight spot when during an argument, he will accidentally kill Don Antonio. Obviously, with him as a prime suspect, handsome Rafael is in dire straits and desperate as he is, he will inevitably accept help from Lourdes, the department's ugly duckling who unfortunately knows all about his misfortune, nevertheless, not without a cost. With his life literally in Lourdes' hands, blackmailed into her preposterous demands, there is only one way out and Rafael will need to stain his hands with blood once more, but shortly, he will learn that there is no such thing as the ferpect crime.—Nick Riganas
Rafael is the best salesman in the biggest department store of Madrid. He is a fascinating man; all his colleagues fell in love with him. He tries to live a high-standard life. He is definitely ambitious and aspires to be the new head of sales on his floor. But he has to beat Don Antonio: the best salesman in the man wearing sector. Competition gets harder and harder, until Rafael kills Don Antonio! Lourdes, the ugliest woman in the store, unexpectedly helps Rafael to hide the corpse, but her help isn't for free. Rafael will soon start considering a new crime. A new perfect crime.—1felco
Rafael (Guillermo Toledo) is a women's clothing clerk at a large Madrid department store, Yeyo's. His department is filled with beautiful, comely young women whom Rafael routinely seduces. Rafael would rather die than live a mediocre life. He knows the house he wants, the car he wants. Rafael believes in making his own luck and prefers taking action over sitting around and waiting for things to change.Even at his department, everything is perfect. The light, the music, the colors and the aroma. Rafael hates the idea of marriage as he believes that life is over as soon as a man gets a mortgage and has kids.
Rafael's department has Alonso (Fernando Tejero), a kiss ass, Roxanne (Kira Miro) a woman with a voracious sex drive, Jaime (Javier Gutierrez) who had to quit law school to marry his pregnant girlfriend, and Susanna, married with 2 kids and converted into a sex bomb after years of neglect by her husband.
When Rafael vies for a management position with Don Antonio (Luis Varela), a men's clothing clerk whom Rafael despises. Don has been at the store for over 20 years. Without a doubt, competition is hard when there's only room for one. The floor supervisor position comes with stock in the company, commission on everything sold and with time, the chance to join the Board of Directors. The previous floor supervisor, Mr Emilio died to leukemia last Christmas.
The winner will be the one who posts the highest monthly sales figures. Don is ahead by 95,000 Euros to Rafael's 90,000. Rafael has 8 hours to bridge the gap. To beat Don, Rafael sells an expensive mink coat to a wealthy lady. The coat itself is 12,000 euros.
A fluke causes Don Antonio to win the promotion as the 12,000 euro check bounced. The suave and sophisticated Rafael loses out to his inelegant arch nemesis, he finds himself in a very tight spot when during an argument (Don asks Rafael to move the mannequins to the basement (something that is done by interns) and moves him to the Big and Tall department) Don Antonio fires Rafael (when he insults the customer when she comes in to return the mink coat) and a fight ensues in which Rafael accidentally kills Don Antonio. The scuffle took place in the changing rooms in the middle of the working day. Rafael manages to hide the body. After the end of the workday, Rafael sneaks the body to the basement, where he burns it inside the incinerator used to burn discarded mannequins. But the body is too big, and Rafael goes to get a knife to chop it into smaller pieces. He returns to find the body missing.
Lourdes (Monica Cervera), an ugly and unassuming clerk at the store, had witnessed the outcome of the fight. She reveals herself to Rafael and says that she hid Don's body in a place where it cannot be found. Lourdes complains that Rafael always ignored her at work. Rafael sweet talks her and assures her that they are now together. She helps Rafael incinerate the body, and provides an alibi for the police and Inspector Campoy (Enrique Villen).
Rafael wins his coveted promotion, but at a terrible cost: Lourdes blackmails Rafael into an unwanted relationship. Lourdes forces him to make love to her in the same way that he seduced his other lovers inside the store. He is forced to fire his many former lovers, and Lourdes hires her own friends as salesgirls in the vacated positions. With the new, ordinary, salesgirls, sales went up by 20%. Lourdes' family is a whack job. Her 8-year-old sister claims that she has AIDS and that she is pregnant with her gym teacher's child. Her father sleeps at the dinner table out of boredom and her mother is as bitter as her.Rafael tries to run away but the travel agent is Lourdes' friend and informs her. Rafael wants to break up with Lourdes, but she threatens him by saying that she will reveal everything to the police. Lourdes is willing to go to the police herself, rather than see Rafael walk free.Lourdes forces Rafael to marry her (she proposes on a live reality TV show) and to support clown-like women's clothing of her design.
Rafael becomes so depressed he begins to hallucinate, seeing the ghost of Don Antonio who suggests Rafael should kill Lourdes. As the police are also pressing him again, he causes a fire in the department store and fakes his death, in front of his wife and a police officer.
Five years later, he (with a false identity) has a small business selling ties and socks, but Lourdes' clown-like clothes are a success, and she becomes a millionaire, the film ending with Rafael gob smacked at a clown fashion parade and Lourdes catwalk, panning out to a huge digital billboard reading "Our Love Is Forever".
