A new detective in the department , Kurtis Striker is sent on his first assignment in Los Angeles to pick up a high profile witness to the murder of the cities district attorney and bring him to the station for questioning . Striker arrives at the witnesses location and tries to take him to the station as he is interrupted by gun wielding assassins that want the kid dead before he can testify .
